Label the notes, not a promised harvest
A dated page is more useful than a promised harvest.
Give the page a useful name
Choose one note that has become hard to find: a possible location, a product manual, or a question from a household conversation. Give it a plain title and a date. The title should tell a future reader what the page contains. “Kitchen window observations” is more informative than a promise about what that window will produce.
Separate what you saw from what you think
Use distinct headings for observation, interpretation, and question. A patch of sunlight you noticed once belongs under observation with its date and time. What it might mean for a future crop remains a question until you compare appropriate guidance. Do not fill gaps in a record with assumptions.
Keep the source with the note
Record the source title, link or manual location, and the date you consulted it. If advice applies to a different region, crop, or setup, note that limitation. A screenshot without context can be difficult to evaluate later. Keep the original reference accessible when possible.
Use what is already available
An existing notebook, folder, or label can do the job. Start with one dated page rather than reorganizing everything at once. You are building a usable record of decisions and questions, not evidence of a harvest or a reason to buy a new filing system.
Bring this checklist
- Title and date one page.
- Separate observation and interpretation.
- Keep the source beside the advice.
- Use supplies you already own.
Optional planning supplies
Start with paper, a pencil, and anything you already own. A notebook or binder can help keep observations, source links, and household project questions together.
